A house of brands is a strategy where each brand has its own identity, representing a different customer profile, need, and messaging. Implementing this strategy requires a deep understanding of positioning & resources.

When a company delivers on this, it allows consumers to quickly grab another product In the family, expanding the adoption of the consumer base and widening its reach.

This is crucial with edibles as the category continues to widen as consumers look for alternatives to smoking and a consistent dialed-in dose.

This week we sit down with Kristi Palmer, Co-Founder of Kiva Confections, to discuss the following:

  • Targeting Consumers via Brands and Unique Profiles
  • State-by-State Expansion
  • Edible Challenges & Opportunities

About Kiva Confections:

In 2010, a young cannabis-loving couple set out on a mission to create a better edible experience for legal consumers. Scott Palmer and Kristi Palmer were inspired by a visit to a local chocolatier and soon started crafting the first Kiva Bars in their home kitchen. They didn’t realize it at the time, but they weren’t just creating a premium edible product, they were setting the gold standard for the entire legal cannabis industry.

Hemp biomass, the raw material derived from the hemp plant, has gained significant attention for its diverse applications, including CBD extraction, fiber production, and more. If you’re interested in the hemp biomass market and its wholesale prices, this article will provide valuable insights. We will explore and compare the current wholesale prices of hemp biomass in the United States and Canada. Understanding the market trends and regional variations in pricing will help stakeholders make informed decisions. Let’s delve into the details and gain a comprehensive understanding of hemp biomass wholesale prices across these two regions.

Hemp Biomass Wholesale Prices in the United States:

The hemp biomass wholesale market in the United States is influenced by various factors, including regional regulations, supply and demand dynamics, quality, and market maturity. While wholesale prices can fluctuate, we can offer a general overview of the market trends.

In states with well-established hemp cultivation and processing industries, such as Colorado, Oregon, and Kentucky, wholesale prices for hemp biomass typically range from $1 to $4 per pound, depending on factors like CBD content, biomass quality, and volume purchased. Prices may vary depending on whether the biomass is specifically cultivated for CBD extraction or other purposes like fiber production.

In emerging hemp markets or states with stricter regulations, wholesale prices might be higher due to limited supply or increased production costs. In these regions, prices can range from $4 to $10 per pound.

Hemp Biomass Wholesale Prices in Canada:

In Canada, the hemp industry is still developing, and the wholesale market for hemp biomass may be less established compared to the United States. However, it is gaining momentum with the country’s legalization of hemp cultivation and the growing demand for hemp-derived products.

As of now, wholesale prices for hemp biomass in Canada can range from $0.50 to $3 per pound, depending on factors such as CBD content, biomass quality, and the purpose of cultivation (e.g., CBD extraction or fiber production). Prices may also vary based on the supply chain, domestic production, and regional regulations.

Conclusion:

The wholesale prices of hemp biomass in the United States and Canada can vary due to factors like local regulations, supply and demand dynamics, and market maturity. While precise figures are subject to market fluctuations, it is advisable to research and engage with reputable suppliers and industry experts to obtain accurate and up-to-date hemp biomass wholesale prices in specific regions.

As the hemp industry continues to evolve and expand, staying informed about market trends, quality standards, and regulatory compliance is essential. Conducting thorough market research and building relationships with reliable suppliers will enable stakeholders to make informed decisions in this dynamic market

Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is a commonly used term in the cannabis industry, encompassing brands and dispensaries. When it comes to luxury purchases, the entire experience and the emotions it evokes play a crucial role in evaluating customer satisfaction. Luxury brands can command premium prices due to their positioning and the inherent value associated with their products. While the cannabis industry is gradually moving towards establishing such premium price points, it requires a deep understanding of exceeding expectations at every customer touch point.

Implementing and refining these strategic principles is a valuable endeavor. However, it presents significant challenges, including current marketing restrictions, limited capital resources, and the complex nature of establishing a consistent national brand identity in a market that operates on a localized basis.

Applying and developing these strategic principles is a valuable undertaking but comes as a steep uphill challenge.

This week we sit down with David Goubert, CEO of Ayr Wellness, to discuss the following:

  • How AYR  is applying  luxury retail principles
  • Implementing realignment strategy and why certain assets didn’t fit
  • Key touchpoints in the customer journey
  • Where Opportunities are in cannabis via marketing

An enormous victory for the US Cannabis Vaping sector happened, and most completely missed it.

The recent “definitive victory” by AVD was a critical win for the cannabis industry.

A monopoly would have jeopardized the entire category and potentially put a stranglehold on crucial hardware. This ruling ensures that competition continues and allows brands and consumers to not suffer at what could have been.

The bigger question remains, is this IP battle the first of many?

We sat down with Alex Kwon, Founder and CEO of AVD, to discuss the following:

  • USITC cannabis vaping dispute
  • Wartime CEO strategies
  • Building a Diversified Supply Chain
  • Forward-thinking disruption tactics

About AVD:

In our former lives, we were extractors and processors. And, probably like you, we were looking for vape hardware equal to our oils. Except we couldn’t find consistently reliable cartridges. That were correctly designed. Didn’t burn our oil. And were priced for the market. So we said to ourselves,

“We know exactly how the perfect cartridge should perform. After all, we’ve been in the industry for 20-plus years. From cultivation to managing licensed extraction labs to processing and formulation.  We’re perfectly positioned to engineer and manufacture our own hardware.”

CBD, short for cannabidiol, has gained significant popularity in recent years for its potential health benefits. If you’re in Canada and curious about the legal status of CBD, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, we’ll explore the legal framework surrounding CBD in Canada, including the Cannabis Act, licensing requirements, and the distinction between cannabis-derived and hemp-derived CBD. Let’s delve into the details to gain a clear understanding of the legality of CBD in the Great White North.

The Cannabis Act and Licensing :

In October 2018, Canada legalized the recreational use of cannabis, including CBD products. The regulatory framework governing the production, distribution, sale, and possession of CBD falls under the Cannabis Act. To legally sell CBD products in Canada, businesses must obtain a license from Health Canada.

Under the licensing system, companies must adhere to specific quality and safety standards for CBD products. These standards include restrictions on THC content, the psychoactive compound responsible for the “high” associated with cannabis. CBD products must have a THC concentration of 0.3% or lower to comply with regulations.

Cannabis-Derived CBD:

Cannabis-derived CBD products can be purchased through authorized retailers and provincial online stores. These products are subject to strict regulations to ensure quality, safety, and accurate labeling. Customers can find a range of CBD products, such as oils, tinctures, capsules, and topical, which are available in various CBD-to-THC ratios. It’s worth noting that some provinces may have additional restrictions or regulations regarding the sale and consumption of cannabis-derived CBD.

Hemp-Derived CBD :

In addition to cannabis-derived CBD, Canada also permits the sale and use of hemp-derived CBD. Hemp is a variety of cannabis with low THC content (less than 0.3%). Hemp-derived CBD products have become more widely available in recent years and can be found in health food stores, pharmacies, and online retailers. These products are subject to less stringent regulations compared to cannabis-derived CBD but still require compliance with quality and safety standards.

Provincial Variations and Additional Regulations:

While CBD is legal nationwide, it’s important to note that individual provinces and territories may have additional regulations or restrictions on CBD products. For example, some provinces may enforce age restrictions for purchasing CBD, limit the places where CBD can be sold, or require specific labeling requirements. It’s advisable to check the regulations specific to your province or territory to ensure compliance with local laws.

In conclusion, CBD is indeed legal in Canada, thanks to the Cannabis Act implemented in 2018. Whether derived from cannabis or hemp, CBD products are available throughout the country. However, it’s crucial to be aware of the specific regulations and restrictions that may apply in your province or territory to ensure legal compliance when purchasing and using CBD products.
